About The Coffee Warbler
 |
Papua New
Guinea
The Arabicas of Papua New Guinea are a
delectable selection of some of the world best
quality coffees. Of note are the Blue Mountain (Typica-type)
Arabica variety brought from Jamaica around 1933
|

and the Arusha variety - a Tanzanian strain
brought to PNG from Kenya (Bourbon type) in
1950. Other varieties include: Bourbon (brought
before World War II, Mundo Novo (typica-bourbon,)
Caturra, and Catimor.
The villages have been using sustainable farming
methods since the opening up of the area 25
years ago. Coffee is the only source of revenue
for the people in this region and is grown by
individual families on small coffee blocks of
three to four thousand trees each. The region is
situated at altitudes ranging from 4,500 to
6,000 feet above sea level. (Certified Organic
and Fair Trade). This coffee has an excellent
strong character classic of the best
Indonesians: a full-bodied rich cup, fairly high
acidity, and a bold vibrant aroma
